Guide Your Boat Into and Out of the Water

When your boat trailer has been backed down the ramp and is partially submerged, these 65" tall guideposts that are mounted on the rear corners of the frame will stick out of the water, giving you 2 highly visible targets to guide your boat between for loading. The PVC posts also provide a visual aid to help you back your boat trailer down the ramp when you're unloading your boat.

Installation

Aluminum Guide-On Mounted with Ubolts

To install the guide-ons, slide the PVC posts over the aluminum support posts. After drilling 4 holes into your trailer's I-beam, use the included hardware to mount the posts on top of or below the trailer frame, as close to the rear corners as possible. Adjust the posts so that the distance between each post and your boat is less than 1 inch.

Rustproof Aluminum Construction

Aluminum offers excellent, long-term defense against rust and corrosion, making it great for saltwater applications. It is naturally rustproof, unlike steel, which must be treated with a rust-resistant coating that can break down over time.

Hello everybody. That's Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this CE Smith 65 inch tall post style guide-ons for your boat trailers with the I-beam frames. This is for a quantity of two guide-ons. Now basically these guideposts here will provide a nice visual indicator on your trailer to help you load and unload your boat. Basically these posts will install directly to your trailer's I-beam frame using the included u-bolt hardware here and just to show you where they install if you zoom in down to the bottom you can see those aluminum post is what will install onto the I-beam frame using the hardware.

And they can be mounted either above or below an I-beam frame at the rear corners. And when you do install 'em, they can be adjusted up to 19 inches away from your trailer. Now to install it, drilling is required. What's nice is with the instructions they include they do include templates that'll show you exactly where to install this. Easy install, it makes loading the boat effortlessly even in tidal water or moving water. One of the best trailer upgrade I have made.
TIP: tie your bumpers to the boat and let hang inside the boat until it’s in the water off the trailer. (Bumpers won’t pass guide poles)

One of two PVC pipes would not slip over the aluminum guide. It required a rubber mallet and a substantial amount of silicone spray to pound and ease it down even after filing the aluminum guide corners and top.

by:

Much better than the steel uprights that came on the trailer originally which rusted out. These won't rust out and should last for years and years

by:

Bought these a year ago. Still in great shape. Very satisfied.

Easy to install. Rugged. I can now see where the back of my trailer is at. Was pretty much guesswork before. Also I don't have to think about if it is lined up correctly. A time saver on busy launch pads.

Hello George, I receive the package. I am happy with it. I would like to bring to your attention a discrepancy between that packaging and the instructions. The first bullet on the outside of the box indicates to mount the post 2 to 3 inches from the pontoon. The directions inside indicates it to be installed less than 2 inches. I have attached some pictures for you to share with your supplier.

Great heavy duty product but description notes that the brackets fit trailers ‘up to 4” wide.’ In reality the U Bolts have an interior diameter of 3 3/8. See image. Had to return after speaking with customer service (both were very nice).

by:

Overall I would say a good product. Maybe not quite rigid enough for my heavier boat, but does its job. I made sleeves for the guides because the pvc tubes were leaving scuff marks on my paint

by:

The gloss black PVC tubes were severely marred due to poor packaging. Everything in the box was unprotected, no wraps, no tie downs or styrofoam to prevent or protect the contents from handling and shipping damage. The order was received 7-3-23. The order number is

Very pleased so far (two outings) with our new trailer guides! We put these on our dual Trailmaster trailer for our Starcraft 221 I/O. I was a bit worried that they wouldn't fit at first, but they *just* squeaked on the rearmost portion of the beam. Installation was very straightforward (nice video you guys put together on this!), the construction is solid, and it was easy enough to tweak the width to get them to a good point for our boat.

Our two recoveries this year have gone very well - much better than last year, our "virgin" season - as it helps to have the visual guide, as well as the posts to keep the rear of the boat from drifting off the center of the trailer. My spouse really likes these, and we are cautiously optimistic that this will make our boat recoveries much less stressful!

by:

Product as described. 10 minute install. Only one tool needed (9/16" socket/wrench). Fast shipping. Arrived when stated. Would buy again. If you have a shorelandr trailer (Yamaha boat), buy the extended bolts.

by:

Product is not as pictured. It's a bent tube, not corner brackets as indicated. I really needed corner brackets to make it work for my application. Unfortunately my teenage son was very helpful and installed it before I got home so I'm stuck with it as is. It will most likely fail for my application.

by:

Look to be good quality and strong, made in USA which is a major plus. Only complaint is the manufacturer needs to apply something to end of steel tubing to prevent damage to the PVC poles during shipping

by:

good quality.i have it on my trailer for over a year .its used and abused (sometimes i hit it with my boat when powerloading )still solid.

by:

Very disappointed with the shipping and packaging of your product. I received my package from usps and the box was torn apart and the metal poles had scratched the PVC pipe up due to improper packaging. Also the description online states that the product will fit a 5” boat trailer frame and I was told that they can send me the correct bolts but will have to charge me the price of the hardware but not the shipping. That is unacceptable per the description of the product states.

by:

Great guides for out 21’ Precision sailboat. Helps to assure that we align the keel with the channel in the trailer, Good Product. If I bought them again Id buy the lighted caps.

by:

Metal posts could be more stable. CE SMITH should weld on a 45* bracket to stabilize the metal post to prevent them from bending. My previous boat guides had them but unfortunately couldn't find them taller as I've upgraded to a bigger boat. During windy conditions, my boat drifts right. No matter how slow I load the boat, the middle touches the guides and bends them out. I have 1/8 of an inch between the gunnel and the posts. After loading I have almost 3 inches due to the posts bending. I would need to bend the posts back into position after launching so the boat will sit center on the trailer when retrieving. In addition, the metal posts that came with the kit isn't as advertised. It does the job

by:

I have a 20' pontoon boat that is a bear to load up. I put a set of these guides on the aft end of the trailer and it made a huge difference. I am planning on getting a set for the front of the trailer to make it even easier. I did have to turn the metal bracket around to get more width and buy longer PVC, but no complaints here.

by:

The specification for this model states it can only reach 13 inches out from the frame but I needed 14 inches for my pontoon. However from the product photos I could see that the vertical arm is longer than the cross arm so I thought I could mount it “upside down” and get the reach I need. Because it is a bargain I took a chance and ordered it. As shown in the photos it worked perfectly. I not only got the extra reach (width) but it also lowered the top of the PVC pipe so it clears my deck which I also wanted. Now I can simply pull the back of the pontoon over until it hits the bumper and it will be centered perfectly. To temporarily provide the visibility needed to back into deep water I simply slide a 5 foot section of half inch PVC pipe inside as shown. It is an excellent product, very heavy duty and I highly recommend it.

by:

Absolutely love the guide on especially when backing your trailer in without the boat and you can’t see the trailer. Highly recommend them. It would be great if they came with reflector strips for travel.
